Betty Juanita Simpson, 84, of Danville, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Danville Center for Heath and Rehabilitation. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Simpson. She was born on February 8, 1935 in Lincoln County to the late Hortense Jones.
Betty worked as a CNA for 28 years. She also worked as a Pastors Aid and Treasurer for 17 years. She started a group of supporter Soup Kitchen, became treasurer and coordinated mission trips.
She is survived by one daughter, Alice Simpson of Danville; two step daughters Regina and Lynell; A brother, Herbie Fortune (Mary); six grandchildren, Tina Bruce (Larry), Leroy Robinson, Arnitta Simpson, Orlando Simpson, Kayla Simpson and Alan Simpson and twelve great grandchildren; four brother in laws, Lawrence Hamilton (Aurelia) of Danville, Cecil Garr (Kern) of Palm Springs, CA., George Hamilton of Danville and James Hamilton of Danville; a very special friend, Fannie Walker.
Along with her husband and mother, Betty was preceded in death by two sons, Glenn Simpson and Neil Hagan; a brother, Myron Fortune; a grandson, Shaun Robinson and three great grandchildren, Barbara, Larry and Jayquan Bruce.
Funeral service will be at 12:00PM on March 20, 2019 at St. James AME Church with Pastor Ralph Smith. Burial will follow at Camp National Cemetery. Visitation will be held on March 20, 2019 from 11:00AM till the start of service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Lancaster, Walter Smith, David Walker, Alan Simpson, Tanner James and Mark Fegun.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Lawrence Hamilton, James Hamilton, George Hamilton and Cecil Garr.
