James Fischer Obituary

James Robert Fischer, 87, of Danville, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 at his home. He was born on July 5, 1932 to the late Harold and Goldie Fischer. James is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Wagner Fischer.

He was a proud Air Force veteran and worked as an engineer for many years. James ("Jim") loved his wife, his family and helping others. He was very active in many churches and assisted in designing and building a church in Saline, Michigan. In Danville, he worked with Habitat for Humanity building more than ten homes. 

Jim is survived by his sister, Nancy Birtch, five children, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sally Baker; grandchild, Russell Walters and son in laws, Dominic Capobianco and Mike Jackson.

Funeral services will be 10AM Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at The Presbyterian Church of Danville with Rev. Hannah McIntyre officiating. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 16, 2019 from 5-7PM at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Eric Carroll, James Fischer, Barbara Owens, Laura Toporowski. Melissa Homann, Mark Homann, Clayton Walters, Monica Jackson, Bethany Jackson, Jack Capobianco and Stephanie Vitalis.

Memorial contributions are preferred to Habitat for Humanity.
