Bennie Joe Selby, 86, of Danville, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at his home. He was born in Danville, Kentucky on February 26, 1940 to the late Denny and Alpha Mullins Selby. Bennie is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Marjorie Fowler Selby. 

Bennie was a Meat Manager for various supermarkets for over 45 years in Lexington, Kentucky. He was a graduate of Danville High School and was proud to have had the happiest childhood, because of his parents he loved so dear. Bennie loved fishing and his family and friends. He was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. 

Surviving are his wife, Marjorie; nieces, Terry Lynn Hubbard of Springfield, Kathy Jo Ross of Taylorsville, Beth Jordan of Bardstown, and Debra Galloway Fisher of Bardstown; a nephew, David Galloway of Tennessee; great-nephews, Jon Ryan of Bardstown and Seth Winstead of Taylorsville; a great niece, Mackenzie Ryan; a host of nieces and nephews, and a his dog, Blue, who was his best friend. 

He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Sue Selby Hale and Peggy Selby Lasher. 

Funeral services will be 1pm Monday, May 11, 2026 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Pastor Trey Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until time of service on Monday, at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Chuck Martin, Fred Klute, Otis Cunningham, Jon Ryan, Max Ryan, and John Mahler. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Tamme, Jeff Ross, David Holland, and Sonny Fowler.
