Bessie Mae Huston took her final rest on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky. She was born in Turnersville, Kentucky on January 8, 1927 to the late William Thomas Huston and Ada Burdette. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Garfield Huston, Joe Robert Huston, John Huston, James Huston and William Huston; and sister, Emme Huston Thornton Jarmon.
Bessie leaves to cherish her memory two children; daughter, Charlotte Texidor and son, Mance (Anita) Jackson, both of Danville; sister, Estella Miller of Columbia, SC, four grandchildren, Elisa Jackson, Richard (TJ) Texidor, Jr., Tiffany Jackson, all of Danville and Denyse Jackson of Texas, niece, Kim Patton and nephew, Clifford Patton, both of Danville; five great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, a host of step grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a special cousin, in which she cared for, Raymond Huston, Jr. of Danville.
Bessie retired from Centre College as a dedicated worker. She was a faithful member of St. James AME Church, serving on the board of the Missionary and Youth Committees. She enjoyed watching and listening to gospel videos and music. She loved to cook and feed her friends and family. Bessie was a huge fan of the Kentucky Wildcats.
Funeral services will be 1pm Friday, February 10, 2023 at St. James AME Church with Rev. Ralph Smith, Rev. William Jenkins, and Rev. Ronnie McCowan officiating. Burial will follow in HillDale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until service time at the church.
Pallbearers will be Anthony Letcher, Clifford Patton, Sean Harris, Damon Jackson, Don Harris, and Don Harris Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Keith Huston, Richard Texidor, Jr., Ronnie Cheanult, Raymond Huston, Sr., Darryl Brown, and Kenny Smallwood.
