Bettie Patton Obituary

Bettie Lee Patton was born March 13, 1938 in Shelby City, Boyle Co. Kentucky. She departed this life on Thursday Dec. 22, 2022 at Ephraim McDowell Hospital.
Mrs. Patton was the daughter of the late George Preston Wilhite and Mary Francis Jewel (Baughman). She attended the Wilsonville school system as a youth and was a lifelong resident of Junction City Ky.

Bettie Patton spent her entire life helping and looking after others. She was soft spoken, yet did not hold back on what needed to be addressed or said. Although she only had an 8th grade education, she was knowledgeable, wise and intelligent. She enjoyed and devoted herself to her many talents some of which was gardening, sewing, cooking, cleaning, quitting, and canning. What brought her the most joy was raising children,. Never having birthed children, she adopted 5 and cared for many others. If you were to ask her, she would say she had 9 kids. What a phenomenal woman.

Mrs. Patton worked for American Greetings for 20 years and was a domestic worker for many years afterwards.  She was also the proud owner of Bettie’s and Lester's Babies aka The Doll Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents George and Francis Wilhite, two sisters Mary Katherine Johnson and Lenora Holman, one brother George Emanuel Wilhite, one stepson and one nephew.

She leaves to cherish her loving husband of over 50 years, Lester Patton Sr.; children, Sandra Steele, Tamikia Patton (Mary Alexis) George Patton, Lester Patton Jr., Raymond Patton and Dawanna Logan Patton, grandchildren Serita, Lashondria and Elijah Steele, Daneezia and Kinyatta Patton, and Sanaya Patton, great grandchildren Isaiah and Trinity Steele, nephews Robert, Steve and Anthony Fitzgerald, nieces Dawn and Sherry Holman and one brother in-law Gerald Holman.

Mrs. Patton excepted our Lord and Savior many years ago. She was a former member of Stanford Baptist Church and a current member of Willow Grove Baptist Church. Her last words was “Don’t Cry, I will see you again”.
