Betty Lou Howson Yates went to be with Jesus on October 2, 2023 at 3:00 AM. Betty was born to Clinton L. And Ethel Shelton Howson on November 19, 1939 in Eubank, Ky.
Betty is survived by her husband of 64 years as of 10/01/2023, Lewis Yates. She is also survived by her son, Louis Scott Yates (Michelle) and her grandson Connor Yates all of Hustonville, her granddaughter, Cristen Wilson (Draven) of Danville and two great grandchildren, Logan and Mason Wilson. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; Jerry Howson of Lincoln County and Jack Howson of Henryville, IN.
Betty attended East End Grade School and Junction City High School, class of 1957. Her first job was at Gym Drug Store. She then went on to work at Gavel Press, Palm Beach and Heck’s Department Store. Upon retirement she was working for Dollar General in Harrodsburg, KY. Betty served as a Sunday School teacher at Baptist Church which was a church that her parents were one of the first members, she went on to serve as a Sunday School teacher after marring Lewis at First Pentecostal Church of God.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Gordon of New Life Pentecostal Church of God (205 Otter Street, Danville, KY.) officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 -7:00 PM on Wednesday October 4, 2023 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Conner Yates, Todd Howson, Trent Howson, Jamie Musick, Jeremy Ray, Mackinley Schemanski and Daniel Casey.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cristen Wilson, Draven Wilson, Billy Joe, Doris Howson and Janice Casey.
