Bishop Larry Weathers Sr. Obituary

Bishop Larry D. Weathers, Sr. was born on February 11, 1954 in Boyle County, Kentucky to the late Evangelist Kate Johnson and the late Johnny Johnson. On the early afternoon of Tuesday, January 19, 2021, Bishop Weathers, Sr. received the call to return back to His Heavenly Father. Although unexpected to us, God in His infinite and divine wisdom knew that Bishop Weathers’ work was done on this side of eternity.

Bishop Larry D. Weathers, Sr. was ordained to serve in the kingdom of God as a prolific preacher, anointed teacher and the proud Pastor and Founder of Vision Church of Holiness, Inc.  His humility and obedience to the voice of God yielded 43 years of faithful service to the work of the Lord.  Bishop Weathers was the Pastor of Church of God of America, Inc. (headquarters church in Danville, KY) for 24 years and faithfully served as the Pastor of Vision Church of Holiness, Inc. for nearly 19 years.

Bishop Larry D. Weathers, Sr. was a man of integrity, loyalty, order and faithfulness.  He never wavered in upholding the standard of holiness. We believe wholeheartedly that God had appointed Bishop Weathers as a general in the Lord’s service.  He served in many capacities in the church: Youngest ordained Elder; President of the Youth; Creator of Youth Days; Chairman of the Finance Committee and so much more. Bishop Weathers often mentioned that his greatest calling was to be a servant of the Most High God.

Bishop Weathers impacted the lives of thousands both near and far. His wisdom was unmatched. His passion and love for life was evident as soon as you was in his presence. As a successful businessman and owner of Weathers’ Insurance Agency for over 30 years, Bishop Weathers reached beyond the church and developed lifelong friendships with individuals from all walks of life. His love for God was made evident in his service to all mankind.

Bishop Larry D. Weathers, Sr. is survived by his adored wife and best friend, First Lady Rhonda Weathers, 5 children: Pastor Larry (Eboney) Weathers, II, Dr. Evangelist Yolanda Weathers, Angela Weathers, Evangelist Melinda Weathers and Jason (Devan) Weathers, I; 4 grandchildren Alexis, Larry III, Jason Jr., Layla); 2 sisters (Marjorie Payne and Pamela (Edward) Hoover) and 4 brothers (David (Eddie), Timmy Weathers, Charles Weathers, Jimmy (Melanie) Johnson; 1 brother-in-law, Pastor Mike (Mary) Turner and a host of adopted children, nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Bishop Weathers was proceeded in death by Lady Amanda Weathers, the mother of his children, the great Evangelist Kate Johnson and 2 brothers (John and Ronnie).
