Chester Kavanaugh II Obituary

Chester “Chet” Mitchell Kavanaugh, II, was called by God to his heavenly home on Friday, May 19, 2023. Chet was born on October 24, 1970 to parents Chester and Sheila Kavanaugh.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Tierra Kavanaugh.

Chet’s Christian faith was an essential part of his life. Chet was a 1989 graduate of Danville High School and was a member of the Cross Country and Track Teams.   Upon graduation, he attended Murray State University. 

Chet was employed by TKT and Associates in Louisville, Kavanaugh Plumbing and Voestalpine Roll Forming Corporation in Shelbyville. Chet served in the US Army during Operation Desert Storm. He loved to laugh and his wit was a constant source of entertainment for all who loved him.  He was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Basketball team and the Dallas Cowboys.  Chet also enjoyed jogging, hunting, nature, reading, nurturing and caring for his dogs.  Chet also spent a great deal of time reading, researching and sharing black history facts.

In addition to his parents, he leaves to cherish his memory sons, Chester “Tate” Mitchell Kavanaugh, III, and Demarion Griffin; daughters, Cherish M. Kavanaugh and Kiersten Leathers; three grandchildren; loving niece Tristan Turner, special friend, Ruth Pennington and a host of aunts, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be 12pm Friday, May 26, 2023 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Hilldale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9am-12pm Friday at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church.

Pallbearers are Charlie Kavanaugh, Jay Wade Kavanaugh, Ricky Kavanaugh, Eddie Dunn, Mark Porter, and John Cotton.

Honorary pallbearers are John Hart, Mr E.G. Plummer, Edward Wilhite, Shawn Woods, John Shannon, Raymond (Skip) Mitchell and Timothy Stallworth.
