Daphine Cox Obituary

Elizabeth “Daphine” Cox, 86, of Danville, passed away December 14, 2024 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, after a 20-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease.  From the beginning of her life to the end, she was a warrior in every sense of the word.   Her foundations were faith, family, and education, and she pursued each with determination, grace, and ease.  She had a remarkable ability to be tough-as-nails and compassionate at the same time, and her guiding hand in all things was incredible to behold.  A former schoolteacher, she also raised 4 kids and managed a 30+ year veterinary practice with her crazy but super-loving husband, all the while showing the way with toughness, joy, and compassion.  Her success in life is evident in her faith and the spiritual strength of her family.

Daphine was born on October 11, 1938 in Borger, Texas to the late William and Myrtie Hatcher. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Melvin “Doug” Cox; a son, Travis Cox (Julie) of Danville; two daughters, Tracey Delene Gaslin (Todd) of Louisville and Leslie Teryl Snow (Dave) of Nicholasville; son-in-law, Andrew Bennett of Seattle, Washington; seven grandchildren, Malcolm Douglas Cox (Caroline), Jenny Beth Penson (Tristan), Jackson Travis Cox, Shelby Faith Snow, Samuel David Snow, Allison Margaret Bennett and Zachary Matthew Bennett; and a nephew, Brian Jull (Krista) of Mills River, North Carolina.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a beloved daughter, Tamara Lin Bennett, and sister, Mary Della Jull.

Funeral services will be 11am Friday, December 20, 2024 at Indian Hills Christian Church with Pastors Jim Cooper and Mike Crowe officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7pm on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at the church and an additional visitation from 10am until the time of the service on Friday.
