A loving and gentle person has gone to her heavenly reward. Donna Jean Webb Leahey passed on February 26, 2026, in her home surrounded by loving family. The daughter of William Drexel and Inez Killen Webb, Donna grew up in Jenkins, Kentucky, where she enjoyed a happy childhood. She was very musical, playing flute and piccolo in high school band and the piano and organ for Sunday services at Jenkins Methodist Church. Donna earned her Bachelor of Science degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University and began teaching near home at Fleming-Neon High School. She soon moved to Ohio where she taught business and typing in Kings Mills and Trotwood High Schools. It was in the Ohio schools that she met her future husband, Pat Leahey, then a high school counselor. Together, Pat and Donna raised their children and moved to various places in Indiana, before finally making their home in Hanover, Indiana. Donna eventually began a career at Hanover College in the Student Affairs Office, where she supported many students. She joined her husband in retirement in 1999 to care for her mother and spoil her grandchildren. Always a Kentuckian at heart, she returned to Kentucky to live out her last eleven years closer to grandchildren, making Danville her home.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Pat Leahey, and their two children: Jamey Leahey (Beth), of Danville, KY and Kelley Hart (Rick), of Hanover, IN. Grandchildren are Patrick Leahey (Natalie Hagan), of Bellevue, KY; Kate Leahey (Cameron Luker), of Chicago, IL; Melisa Manning (Jeffery), of Gallatin, TN; Kylee Hart, of Hanover, IN; and Katrina Hart, of Morehead, KY; and four great-grandchildren, Jamiah, Amora, Maylee, and Brenlee. Donna is also survived by a brother, Larry Webb of Colorado; a sister, Linda Back of Lexington; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Leahey of Union City, IN; as well as treasured nieces, nephews, caregivers, and friends.
Donna was a quiet, unassuming, humble, and loving woman. Honoring Donna’s spirit of hospitality, the family will welcome friends at 1:00 pm for a funeral service on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville, KY. Visitation will be 11:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday.
