Doris Jean Rayburn, 90, of Lancaster, passed away December 30, 2019 in Hermitage, Tennessee. She was born on April 16, 1929 in Bryantsville, Kentucky to the late Herbert and MaeBelle Burdette Brooks. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, John Frank Rayburn. Doris worked in many positions in her life, taking care of her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother; making holidays and any occasion special. She was a faithful and active member of Hedgeville Baptist Church, where she was loved and played the organ.
Surviving is a son, Herbert McMillan (Miriam) of Old Hickory, Tennessee; a daughter, Peggy Darlene McMillan of Mayfield, Ky; grandchildren, Patrick McMillan (Jessica), Joseph McMillan (Stephanie), Jennifer Thompson (Ronnie), Christopher Eaton (Renee) and Danae Hallmark; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by sisters, Edna Breeding and Gladys Brooks and brothers, Herbert, Carl, Morris, Hubert and Henry Brooks.
Funeral services will be 1PM Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Hedgeville Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Grizzell officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11AM until 1PM on Saturday at the church.
Pallbearers will be Patrick McMillan, Joseph McMillan, Ronnie Thompson, Chris Eaton, Benjamen Thompson and Rodrick McMillan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Hunt, Mike Lay, Eddie Campbell, Alford Wilson, Everett Stafford, Gary Ginter and Jimmy Lair.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hedgeville Baptist Church Missions Fund.
