Dudley Doreene Guerrant Adams Obituary
Dudley Doreene Guerrant Adams, affectionately known as "Dee Dee," passed away peacefully on Dec 20, 2025. Born on August 28, 1945, in Oakland, California, she was brought to her beloved home of Danville, Kentucky, by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Buford Wood Guerrant, Sr. (Dudley).
Dee Dee spent her formative years in Danville, where she held a deep bond with her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Putney Guerrant, Sr. (Mary). She often reminisced about the special moments shared with them, particularly her treasured time with her Grandmother Mary, who played a significant role in her life. In a final act of love, Dee Dee requested that her ashes be sprinkled over her Grandmother Guerrant's gravesite at Bellevue Cemetery.
A graduate of Danville High School, Class of 1963, Dee Dee attended Birmingham-Southern College in Alabama and later graduated from business college as a medical secretary. She enjoyed a fulfilling career, serving as a medical secretary at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and an OB/Gyn practice in Lexington.
Dee Dee was preceded in death by her first husband, William Dwyer Hickey, her brother Buford Wood Guerrant, Jr. ("Woody"), and her parents, Dudley D. Hibler Guerrant and Buford Wood Guerrant, Sr. She was also widowed by her second husband, Julian R. Hardaway, M.D., who passed away at the age of 98.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Dwyer Hickey Hardaway (Yas) and grandson, Ashkon William Hardaway, of Redondo Beach, California; her daughter, Elizabeth Wood Hardaway Dillman, and granddaughters, Fallan Wood Dillman and Gwinevere Dwyer Dillman, of Anchorage, Alaska; and her brother, George H. Guerrant, D.M.D., of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Dee Dee treasured the memories of her late husband, Bill, whom she married in 1966 and who passed away from cancer in 1974. In 1976, she married Julian R. Hardaway, who lovingly adopted her two young children and became a devoted father figure. Together, they created lasting memories at their family farm in Big Spring, Kentucky, and later moved to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, where they enjoyed their careers and made many valued friends.
In 2021, Dee Dee rekindled a beloved friendship with her college sweetheart, Bill Adams, from Albertville, Alabama. Their connection blossomed into a deep love, and they married later that year. Dee Dee very often expressed to family and friends how fortunate she felt to have Bill in her life. She frequently remarked on his generosity, kindness, and loving nature, which brought her immense joy and comfort. Bill became a source of support and happiness for Dee Dee, and she loved and adored him deeply, cherishing every moment they shared together.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Dee Dee will be cremated, and a private family memorial will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, Kentucky.
