Eddye Maye was born on January 10, 1930 in Moreland, KY. She was the daughter of the late Roosevelt Steele and Eddie McGill. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Perry Lee Steele and Joseph Ray and one sister Margaret Helena. She departed this life on February 7, 2020 at Harrodsburg Health and Rehabilitation center.
She graduated from Old Lincoln County High School and attended KY State University. She was employed and retired from South Central Bell in Danville. She made many friends during her employment there and she never lost touch with them.
She was a lifelong member of Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church in Moreland. She served on the Steward and Trustee board of the church. She was secretary of the Sunday school; she was the Head stewardess for the elements of Holy Communion and a member of the senior choir. She loved the church and gave her time and energy willingly. She was faithful and attended regularly until her health declined.
She loved to attend Bible study and always looked forward to it. Being with her friends at Bible study gave her such joy and she was always excited about the lesson. She made many friends at her Bible study and she loved each one of them.
She had several hobbies and one of them was working crossword puzzles. She said she could do it for hours on end. She loved to write letters to family and friends. She also loved to cook. She was a great cook and enjoyed trying different recipes. She was a wonderful baker. Her homemade cakes, pies and rolls were beautiful and delicious.
She was the loving wife of Archie Faulkner, Jr. They were married for 66 year and were inseparable. They loved to get up early every day and take their daily walks at Walmart. They did this for many years and made many friends along the way. She was a loving and faithful person and she will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her Husband, Archie Faulkner, Jr of Danville. Son Michael (Gladys) Faulkner, Danville,
Daughter Donnetta (Donald) Corbin , Plano, Texas, Grandson Brent Faulkner, Louisville, KY, Granddaughters Desiree (Jeremiah) Wortham, Doneesha (Cameron) Graham , Great Granddaughters, Eden Wortham and Codi Graham of Texas. Sister, Mary Frances Norwood, Temple Hills, Maryland.
Sister in laws, Mary McGill, Minnie Meadows and Lucille Snodgrass all of Danville. Special cousins,
Joseph McGill, St. Louis, Missouri, Glenn Lewis, Lexington, KY and Pam Lewis, Louisville, KY and numerous nieces, nephews, other cousins and friends. You know who you are and how much you meant to her. Her life was enriched because you were all a part of it.
Funeral service will be 11:30 AM on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Everhart Walker and Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Meadows, William Warner, Troy Warner, Juan Warner, Bryan Gooch and Ernest Gooch.
