Gary Denson

Gary Robert Denson, 69, of Junction City, passed away January 4, 2026. He was born on August 8, 1956 to the late Ulis and Nora Taylor Denson. Gary was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry Denson. 

Gary was a lifelong cattle farmer and retired from Donaldson in Nicholasville. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. He was an athlete and coached youth in all sports for many years. Gary was an honorable, respected family man, who adored his children and grandchildren. 

Surviving are his sons, Joey Wilson (Tina) and Josh Denson both of Junction City; a daughter, Amanda Denson of Junction City; ten grandchildren, Landon, Austin, Caitlin, Makenna, Ethan, Thomas, Joseph, C’Anna, Emery, and Hagen; eight great-grandchildren, Carter, Luke, Journee, Lane, Axel, Zyler, Maverick, and Easton; a brother, Tim Denson (Susie) of Indiana; sisters, Wilma Adams of Perryville, Sheila Baudendistel (Thomas) of Perryville and Jane Tate of Stanford and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Gary is also preceded in death by siblings, Georgie Cox, Mary Tate, and Betty Anne Denson. 

Funeral services will be 11am Friday, January 9, 2026 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Bro. Mark Tate and Regina Kuchenbrod officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2026 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. 

Pallbearers will be Joey Wilson, Austin Bodner, Ethan White, Landon Myers, Josh Denson, Steve Lynn, Eddie Martin, Sammy Martin, and Tim Denson.  

Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Bottom, Mark Tate, Travis Russell, Frankie Emerson, Scott Holloway, John Key and Marcy Maddox.
