Jacqueline Woodward Obituary

Jacqueline Wash Woodward, 80, of Burgin, passed away peacefully at her home on November 28, 2023. She was born in Harrodsburg on January 15, 1943 to William C. and Evelyn House Wash. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Allen Woodward. 

Jacquie graduated from Frankfort High School, Transylvania University and the University of Kentucky. She was a dedicated teacher, who taught in Davidson County (TN) schools, The Lexington School, Lexington Christian School and Western Hills High School. She coached girls’ basketball and was an avid golfer. Jacquie was an accomplished artist and published author, a homebuilder and former president of the Scott County Homebuilder’s Association, as well as a small business owner.   She was a founding member of the equestrian facilities at Masterson Station Park in Lexington, and a former District Commissioner of Keeneland Pony Club.  She was a member of the first Safety Committee to develop standards for equestrian riding helmets. In retirement, she was a volunteer with both the Mercer County Humane Society and the Danville Boyle County Humane Society and their low-cost spay neuter clinics. Jacquie adored her family and spent countless hours making lifelong memories with all five grandchildren. 

She is survived by a daughter, Micki McDaniel (Tim) of Danville, a son, Brad Woodward (Christy) of Versailles and five grandchildren, Grace McDaniel Hodge (Zach) of Richmond, Will McDaniel of Danville, Alex, Chase, and Jacob Woodward, all of Lexington. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Wash. 

Private family services will be held. 

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Heritage Hospice, Danville, Kentucky; Happy Paws Spay Neuter Clinic, Danville, Kentucky or Masterson Equestrian Trust, Lexington Kentucky.
