James Dinsmore, 94, formerly of Nicholasville passed away at Landmark of Lancaster on Monday, September 20, 2021. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ava Salyer Dinsmore. James was born on November 19, 1926 in Blackey, Kentucky to the late James Wiley and Hattie Mae Maggard Dinsmore.
James was a WWII veteran and loved to tell stories about the war and about his job for the Army. He raised many children, worked hard and was always there to help. He worked as a Manufacturing Engineer in the Casket industry. He was a UK fan and loved to watch sports and Western movies.
James is survived by four sons, James Dinsmore III (Marjorie) of Danville, Jeffrey Dinsmore of Danville, Brian Dinsmore (Brenda) of Harrodsburg and Darian Dinsmore (Erica) of Nicholasville; two daughters, Karen Coppola (Vincent) of Mississippi and Glenda Dixon (Jay) of Perryville.
James was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Hager.
He had 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM at Camp Nelson National Cemetery on Friday, September 24, 2021. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home.
