James Paul Hamilton Jr., age 86, of Danville, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family. He was born on Monday, November 13, 1939, in Danville, Kentucky, to the late Fannie Price and James P. Hamilton Sr.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Mr. Hamilton served his country with honor and courage.During his military service, he was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantry Badge, along with several other commendations, reflecting his bravery and sacrifice.
Brother James was a man of deep and abiding faith. He was a lifelong member of the Church of God of America, where he remained steadfast in his spiritual walk. In his later years, he attended First Baptist Church, continuing his commitment to worship and fellowship.
He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved children: James L. Hamilton Sr. of Georgetown and Melanie L. Hamilton of Danville; his brother, George Hamilton of Danville; and a loving legacy through his grandchildren: James L. Hamilton Jr., Thomasina R. Hamilton, Shareka D.Miller, Nathanial Hamilton, La'Saharah Hamilton, Jaron Hamilton, and Joshua Lacefield.
He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Jabari Tabbs, Corieon Tabbs, A'tiawna Miller, Tre Miller, and Perfect Miller, along with a host of other great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Hamilton, Richard Simpson, Cecil Garr, and Lawrence Hamilton.
James P. Hamilton Jr. will be remembered for his strength, humility, faith, and unwavering love for his family. His life stands as a testament to perseverance, honor, and grace. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Vision Worship Center. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Vision Worship Center.
