James Lancaster Jr., 80, of Danville, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 in Danville. He was born in Danville on July 12, 1944 to the late James and Agnes Lancaster. He is preceded in death by his loving wife Linda to whom he was married for over 40 years.
James was a horse trainer for over 50 years. He loved to dance and enjoyed making people laugh. He loved life and, above all else, loved his family.
Surviving are two sons, James Patrick Brand (Yvonne) of Danville and Markie Coffey (Lashanda) of Lexington; two daughters, Patricia Yocum (Jason) of Danville and Lakisha Yocum of Wilmore; two siblings, Donald Lancaster and Dorothy Lofton both of Danville; a special friend, Michelle Schafer; eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, James was preceded in death by five siblings, Willie Burdette, Laura Mae Lancaster, Ruby Lancaster, Bertha Lancaster and Jerry Lancaster.
Funeral Services will be held at St. James A.M.E. Church on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Ralph Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Lancaster, Antonio Lancaster, Juan Ogle, Mark Coffey, Dexter Brand and Don Ogle. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Smith, Oliver McCormick, Lamar Yocum, Terry Williams, Donald Lee Lofton, Anthony Lofton, Chris Lancaster and Martellis Lancaster.
