Alma "Jean" Cummins, 84, of Danville, passed away Friday December 5, 2025 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was born in Parksville, Kentucky on October 5, 1941 to the late Robert J. and Maggie Honaker Montgomery. Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Ralph Cummins.
Jean worked for Phillips Lightning for many years and was a faithful member of Carpenter’s Christian Church in Harrodsburg. Jean and Ralph loved to travel and enjoyed going to watch quartets and gospel conventions. She had a contagious personality and loved spending time with her family. Jean was an avid Ky Wildcat basketball fan, she always put her Wildcat sweaters on for game day and never missed watching them. She lived at Morning Pointe the last few years, where she enjoyed the community and the many friends she had made.
Jean is survived by two brothers, Carl Montgomery (Susie) of Stanford and Bernard Montgomery (Carolyn) of Danville; two sisters, Sue Anderson (Dudley) of Danville and Betty Proffitt of Danville; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly and called them her own.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband; brothers, Robert Jr. and Buford Montgomery (Wanda); sisters, Leona, Beulah and Carol Montgomery and Dorothy Jarboe; brother-in-laws Daniel Proffitt, Jim Naylor and Chester Jarboe.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home on Monday, December 15, 2025 with Pastors John Kessell and Larry Camic officiating. Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of the service.
Pallbearers will be Edwin Montgomery, David Montgomery, Greg Montgomery, Steve Bechtel, Jeremy Burke and Rodney Foley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dalton Hendren and Friends of Morning Pointe, Debbie Novak, Linda Elmore, and Jayne Pennock.
Memorial contributions are preferred to Carpenters Christian Church in Harrodsburg, Gideon’s, and Heritage Hospice.
