Kathleen Sims

Kathleen (Kathy) Sims, 82, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2020 in Danville, Kentucky. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Barney Joe Sims. Born July 30, 1937 in Madison County to the late Luther and Geneva Chasteen Johnson.

Kathy was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She graduated from Kingston High School and attended Good Samaritan School of Nursing in Lexington, graduated from the Danville School of Nursing and was licensed in Kentucky and Arkansas. Employed in various fields of nursing for 47 years. She enjoyed playing the piano and was pianist for several churches in Madison County before marrying and moving to Danville.

Survived by grandson, Brandon (Ginger) Smith, one brother, Delbert (Liz) Johnson, several nieces and nephews and a great granddaughter, Abigail Smith. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Gale Sims Smith.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home officiated by Bro. Brent Rowe and Bro. Doug Wesley. Burial will follow in Parksville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Daniel Sims, Hal Chambers, Anthony Honaker, Doug Sims, Robert Keith Sims, Thomas Gordon Sims and Doug Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Hosanna Sunday School Class.
