Kathy Lynn Bates

Kathy Lynn “Granny Smith” Bates, 71, of Danville, passed away February 18, 2023 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. She was born September 21, 1951 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Robert and Mary Margaret Stevens. 

Kathy was a manager at Wendy’s for many years. She loved to laugh, have a good time, and make sure those around her were happy. She loved her family, adored her daughter and was a free spirit. Her favorite was being “Granny Smith” to her grands. 

Surviving is a son, Philip “Scott” Bates (Emma) of Danville; a daughter, MaryAnn Bates (Hannah) of Garrard County; a sister, Mary “Fruittie” Stevens of Louisville; a brother, Robert “Bobby” Stevens II (Linda) of Junction City; grandchildren, Jessie Jenkins (Alicia), James Robinson (Melissa), Brooklynn Robinson, Aaliyah Robinson, Makenzie Robinson, Emery Goetsch, Waylon Jenkins, Landon Jenkins and Asher Kai Cornett; best friend, Narda Page and a special dog, Sophia Grace.  

She is preceded in death by her parents. 

Funeral Services will be 2pm Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Perryville, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 12pm-2pm Thursday. 

Pallbearers are James Robinson, Jessie Jenkins, Robert “Bobby” Stevens II, Robbie Stevens, Scott Bates and Tyler Cornett. 

Honorary pallbearers are “The Apples”. 

A special thank you to Harrodsburg Health and  Rehabilitation Center Staff for the special care and love received during Kathy’s stay. Your kindness will not be forgotten.
