Margaret Anne Milburn, 91, of Danville, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on April 28, 1934 in Danville, Kentucky, where she spent her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Roger Lee and Anna Floyd Hicks.
Margaret graduated from Danville High School and then attended Transylvania University majoring in music. She was a member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Tri-Delta. She was involved in founding the Tri-Delta Chapter at Centre College. Margaret was also a member of the Robert Barr Society (Transylvania), St. Asaph Chapter of D.A.R., Phi Beta Music Society and a 50 year member of Chapter l, P.E.O.
She married Gordon Dean Milby in 1952, and they had three children. After his passing, she went on to marry Charles Thomas Milburn and had a daughter. Margaret was a dedicated piano teacher, teaching many generations in the Danville community for over 60 years.
Margaret was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) her entire life. She was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship and worked closely with the Love Fund Ministry. She was active in organizing the Thanksgiving boxes as well as the bereavement meals for families of the church. She was a longtime member of the choir, handbell choir and the Fireside Sunday School Class. Margaret served as a board member, Deacon, Elder and later honored with Elder Emeritus.
Surviving are her children, Elizabeth "Libby" Milby Smith (Jim) of Frankfort, Katharine "Kathy" McBrayer Milby of Danville, Robert "Bob" McMahon Milby of Danville and Anne Margaret Milburn (Kris) of Danville; a step-daughter, Connie Milburn Westbrook of Texas; grandchildren Margaret "Maggie" Elizabeth Shi Milby, Noah Hailee Milburn, Cecily Katharine Smith and Asher Williams Milburn Hamlin.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 2pm Saturday, October 18, 2025 at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Rev. Colby Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 11am until service time. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
