Martina Simms-Hilbert

Martina Simms-Hilbert joined the angels on December 2, 2020. She passed peacefully at home with her husband by her side. Martina was born in Danville, Kentucky on September 8, 1957 to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Simms. Martina was a 1975 graduate of Danville High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University where she graduated with a BA in Business in the Spring of 1979. After graduation, Martina was employed by the Kentucky Horse Park and later moved to Houston in 1981. She was a long time employee of Inventure where she was a Senior Associate.

Martina was married on June 28,1980 to Jerry L. Hilbert, also of Danville. The couple recently celebrated 46 years together and their 40th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her daughter, Shana McCenzee Hilbert, her husband, Jason Boggess, and her grandchildren, Molly and Titus of Tomball, Texas; her two sons, Jeremy Tyler Hilbert of Spring, Texas and Christian Seth Hilbert of Lexington, Kentucky. Martina’s brothers, Patrick Simms, Paul Simms (his wife Carol) and Kelly Simms currently reside in Lexington, Kentucky.

In 2006, Martina was diagnosed with cancer and has fought valiantly for 15 years before succumbing to the disease. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and compassion for others. Martina enjoyed traveling, good music, beautiful landscapes, nature and spending time with her family. For Martina, family was everything and she always put her kids and husband first.

Martina will be missed by all that were fortunate to come into her presence.

 A Celebration of Life visitation will be held from 1-5pm on January 10, 2021 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home. Due to Covid-19 rules and regulations, all individuals attending visitation will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
