Mary Kinley Obituary

Mary Joyce Kinley was born on Thursday, July 29, 1937 in Danville, Kentucky to the late Catherine Gray Doneghy and John Eddie Doneghy. Mary Joyce accepted Christ at an early age. She was baptized and became a member of First Baptist Church, where she remained faithful.

She was an alumni graduate of Bate High School. She attended Lindsey Wilson College and Eastern Kentucky University. She was chairman of the oldest church club “The Lend-a-Hand Club” which was instrumental in erecting and mounting the bell from the church which burned down in 1966 in front of the present, First Baptist Church. She was a past matron of Celestine Chapter #9 and a Kentucky Colonel. In 1985 she was rewarded a certificate from the National Writer’s Association of New York for the completion of a writer’s course and received many certificates from Urban League. She was employed by Palm Beach until the business closed, Bluegrass Mental Health, Kentucky School for the Deaf and Department of Transportation State Toll. She volunteered for eight years to Spouse Abuse Board in Danville. She also helped name the Veteran Wall of Honor at Boyle County Fairgrounds.

Mary Joyce departed this life Saturday, December 17, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Catherine and John Eddie Doneghy, her sister, Deborah Doneghy and her brother, John Eddie Doneghy. She leaves to cherish her memory, one brother, James M. Doneghy of Florence, Alabama; eight children with her late ex-spouse, David Kinley, daughters, Joyce D. Kinley and Deborah D. Kinley, both of Danville, Kentucky; sons, Isaac B. Kinley (Rita) of Cincinnati, Ohio, David L. Kinley, Mark A. Kinley, John E. Kinley, all of Danville, Kentucky, Victor E. Kinley (Lorraine) of Lexington, Kentucky and Jeffery T. Kinley of Danville, Kentucky; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at First Baptist Church 2nd and Walnut St. with Dr. Darrick Briscoe and Rev. Ronald McCowan officiating. Visitation from 9:30am until 11am at the church. Burial will follow in Hilldale Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Isaac Kinley, David Kinley, Mark Kinley, John Eddie Kinley, Victor Kinley, and Jeffery Kinley. 

Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
