Pauline “Polly” Hanks, 97, of Danville, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 at The Willows in Harrodsburg, Kentucky.
Polly was born and raised in Anderson County by her grandparents during the depression. She always had many stories to tell about the first light bulb and refrigerator. Polly graduated from Kavanaugh High School and met RA Hanks at a bus stop near Stringtown. They married and raised three sons all of which became engineers. She loved time with her family of 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Family and friends were what truly mattered to her.
Surviving are three sons, Richard A. (Glenda), of Tennessee, Donald L (Catherine) of West Virginia and Robert “Scott” (Cathy) of Danville; eight grandchildren, Heather, Sarah, Emily, Aaron, Daniel, Mary, Jacob, and Benjamin Hanks.
Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren, Wesley Foster, George Foster, Bowman Foster, Annabelle Hanks, Hank Badrian, Emma Claire Hanks, Abe Hanks, and Forest Badrian and sisters, Dorothy Jean Simpson, Patricia Flora, Velena Harley, Brenda Peach, and Judy Harley.
A Celebration of her Life will be held Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 4-6pm at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Basil Hall officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be R. Aaron Hanks, Daniel Hanks, Jacob Hanks, Benjamin Hanks, and Wesley, George and Bowman Foster.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Judee Vanderpool, Charlotte Carr, Mary Elizabeth Godbey, Mildred Ellis, Mary Simms, and Liz Peniston.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church general fund.
