Rachel Downey

Rachel Downey, 85, of Jessamine County, formerly of Danville, passed away Friday, July 1, 2022 at Baptist Health in Lexington. She was born on October 4, 1936 in Boyle County to the late Clarence and Annlee Claunch Sharp. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, James Downey.

She was a retail supervisor for many years and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving is a son, Tommy Downey of Nicholasville, a daughter, Barbara Downey Caldwell of Nicholasville, two grandchildren, James Downey (Amy) of Danville and Joe Kelly of Nicholasville, and seven great grandchildren.

Rachel is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Todd Downey and two siblings, Hazel Townsend and Seymour Sharp.

Funeral services will be 1pm Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home with Rev. Rusty Townsend. Burial in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11am until service time.

Pallbearers are Colin, Ethan, and Mason Downey, Joe Kelly, Colt Kelly, Chance Downey and Keith Jones.
