Ronald Weaver Obituary

Marine Corporal Ronald “Ron” Weaver, 84, of Danville, passed away August 16, 2025. He was born on March 3, 1941 in Foster, Kentucky to the late James R. and Cora Estell Weaver. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jo Ann Rogers Weaver.

Surviving is a son, Jamie Weaver (Heather) of Colorado; a daughter, Kim Evans (Steve) of Danville; an honorary daughter, Kim Bailey (Dr. Wayne) of Mount Sterling; grandchildren, Cheyenne Barsotti (Dr. Philip), Dr. Tabitha Anderson (John), and Fisher Evans, all of Danville; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Barsotti, Wesley Weaver Anderson, Maggie Barsotti, and Silas Anderson.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Marie Pope, Elsie Weaver, Ralph Weaver, Paul Weaver, Lester Weaver, Peggy Moyer, Wanda Jasper, Jenett Weaver, and Sid Gallagher.

Funeral services will be 1pm Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Preston Pruitt Spurlin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Camp Nelson National Cemetery at 2:30pm with full military honors. Visitation will be from 12pm-1pm on Thursday.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Weaver, Steve Evans, Fisher Evans, Dr. Philip Barsotti, John Anderson, and Dr. Wayne Bailey.

To know Ron was to love Ron. The only thing that eclipsed the enormity of his fun-loving sense of humor was the love he had for his wife, his endless support of his family, the pride he had in being a Marine, and his enthusiasm for reading.

Ron spent most of his life in finance having worked for the Garvice Kinkaid Organization, the Winchester Bank, the Bank of Danville, and was the former Bank President of both the Richmond Bank in Richmond, Kentucky and First State Bank in Monticello, Kentucky. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was the loudest, most ardent supporter of his children’s and grandchildren’s events and activities and was fondly referred to as “Grampa” not only by his own grandchildren, but every player on their teams. He was there.

“Pistol,” as his father called him, was a huge fan of good margaritas, laughter and telling stories, music of his youth, Kentucky Basketball, and good times around the table with his family often saying, “it’s not what’s on the table, it’s who’s around it.”

As a proud Class of 1959 graduate of Bracken County High School, he lived his life in accordance with the sign in the gymnasium that read, “When the one great scorer comes to write against your name, He writes not whether you won or lost, but how you played the game.” Game well played, Ron Weaver.
