Ruth Penman

Ruth Penman, 76, of Danville, passed away Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Penman Sr. 

Ruth was born on May 30, 1944 in Boyle County, KY to the late James Coulter and Lorine Stokes Penman.  She worked at Ephraim McDowell Health for many years and Red Wing Shoes for over 15 years.

Ruth loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She loved cooking holiday meals for her family. She liked watching Animal Planet and Gunsmoke. Most of all she loved Jesus, reading her Bible, and studying scriptures. Ruth would tell her children to live for God. Her prayers were her children and grandchildren would come to know God and be saved. She loved witnessing to people about the love of God and sharing the gospel. She would always testify about how God healed her many times. Ruth had love for all her nieces and nephews and a special love for her sister, Mary Elizabeth Johnson.

Ruth was a member of Alpha-Omega Holiness Church in Nicholasville, KY.

Surviving are four sons, Jeffrey Penman(Mary) of Nicholasville, Stanley Penman of Lincoln County, Robert Penman of Lexington, and Spencer Lamont Penman of Stanford; three daughters, Regina Layne(Paul) of Danville, Felisa Coleman of Danville, and Anitra Haviland of Danville; step children Bobby Penman, Brenda Penman, Maria Jordan, Tony Hayes and Janet Penman; a sister, Mary Johnson of Campbellsville; forty three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and friends.

Ruth along with her husband and parents was preceded in death by a son, Michael Penman; a daughter Dorine Penman; two sisters, Emma Jean Masterson and Cleona Brown; and two brothers, William Coulter, and Tom Harris.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Danville Church of God with Pastor Gerard Norwood and Pastor Bryan Montgomery officiating.

Visitation will be 11:00 until time of the service at the church.

Burial will be in Hilldale Cemetery in Danville, KY 

Pallbearers are Montice Quisenberry, Emmanuel Young, Bentley Jones, William Bartleson, Stanley Penman, Robert Penman, Spencer Penman and Wayne Masterson.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Penman.
