After moving to Danville during his teenage years. He met and married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Buster Beasley on January 3, 1959 in a quiet ceremony in the church vestibule. He was a member of the former Church of God of America, where he was an accomplished drummer and Soloist. Two songs; “He’ll Understand” and “I’m glad God made me”. These songs became his favorite to sing and was well known throughout the church and community for singing it under the unction of the Holy Spirit. Sam was a person that was seen in the public arena in the city of Danville for a number of years, being employed at the former Hub Frankle Store until its closing and the Ephraim McDowell Hospital until his retirement. He had an infectious smile that radiated like a sunbeam and it didn’t take much to make him smile and he will leave etched in the hearts and minds of his children and grandchildren. He lived by the motto; “If you furnish God a good clean life.. he won't hold no good thing from you" When asked how they will remember their father; his daughters said, “He was our everything, he was a provider, encourager and a strong father and not just a grandfather to our children but a father”. One of their fondest memories was singing together in church and while traveling in the car. Sam will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
