Theora Val Heggs was born January 23, 1933 in Danville, KY to the late Reverend General Lucian Walker and Mary Elizabeth Walker.
She gave her life to Christ and an early age and was united in marriage to Samuel Charles Heggs in 1956, and from this union they were blessed with five children. Due to her husband being enlisted in the United States military she traveled to a variety of countries and was able to see the world.
She moved with her family to the Washington, D.C area in 1976 to Alexandria, VA and later settled in Fort Washington, MD. After moving to Maryland, she joined Adams A.M.E church in Clinton MD serving as a steward faithfully until her retirement. After retirement, she moved her membership to Wilsonville AME Chapel in Wilsonville, KY.
She was an entrepreneur and Savvy businesswoman she started her on business and named it Theora’s Home Cleaning service and had famous Clients such as Bobby Beathard General Manager of the Washington Redskins, Richard Petitbon defensive coach, Washington Redskins and many other high end clientele.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, Theora was called from a life of labor to a life of reward at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, MD. She was preceded in death by her spouse Samuel Heggs, two sons James Edward Heggs and General Charles Heggs. Six siblings, Robert Andrew Walker, Clark Walker, Dorothy Powe, Gertrude Wheeler, Clara Tibbs, and Everhart Walker.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Sandra Heggs of Fort Washington, MD. Connie L. Heggs of White Plains, MD. William A. Heggs of Accokeek, MD. Two grandchildren Scott J. Heggs and grand daughter-in-law Narrisa Heggs of Washington, D.C. Anthony General Lee of Fort Washington, MD and one great granddaughter Sanya N. Lee. Nieces and Nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. James A.M.E. Church on May 21, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Hilldale Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time.
Pallbearers will be Johnson Walker, Hubert Rowe, Scott Heggs, General Lee, Tony Mays and John Smith.
