Virginia "Ginger" Robertson

Virginia "Ginger" Robertson, 88, of Springfield and Danville, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026 at her daughter’s home in Forkland, where she spent the last years of her life. She was born on July 3, 1937 in Greeley, Nebraska to the late Francis and Margaret Day Yilk. 

Virginia was a teacher for Burgin Independent Schools for many years. She taught non-primary 2nd through 4th grade science, writing, as well as gifted and talented program. Her love of teaching shines through many of her students, still today, forging their own path of life. Virginia loved her flower garden and her beautiful yard, where she won multiple awards for her beautiful flowers at her home on Lexington Avenue. Ginger was an artist and she loved to write. She was also a proud member of the Art Center of the Bluegrass.

Surviving is a daughter, Margaret Johnson (Roger) of Forkland; a son, James Robertson (Masami) of Richmond, KY; a brother, Jim Yilk (Patti) of Colorado; a granddaughter, Shelby Bradford of Midway, KY; a step-granddaughter, Amanda Perry; two great-grandchildren, Addi and Evie Bradford of Midway, KY; three step great-grandchildren, Hunter, Heidi and Kimber; a daughter in law, Diane Robertson of Georgetown; and nieces and nephews, Sarah Goodwin, Lisa Adams, Heather Roberts, Courtney Yilk, Elizabeth Geenen, Kort Thompson, and Lindsay Sexton.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Jones Robertson Jr.; and a son, William Booker Robertson.
